Schwerpunkt dieser Kursarbeit lag auf der Programmierung und Generierung grafischer Texturen und Muster anhand der Programmiersprache Processing. Nach der Kurzeinführung in die Grundlagen des Programmierens und der Vermittlung des Konzeptes des parametrischen Designs, sollte den Studierenden ein praktischer und kreativer Zugang zur Programmierung aufgezeigt werden. Für einen leichten Einstieg in die Welt des Programmierens wurde den Kursteilnehmern die Programmiersprache Processing mit ihrer Entwicklungsumgebung vorgestellt, welche es ermöglicht, visuelle Elemente relativ einfach mittels textbasierter parametrischer Beschreibung darzustellen. Die Studierenden entwickelten in der Folge eine Serie kurzer Programm-Skripte zur Erzeugung von unterschiedlichen Texturen und Mustern - die sich soweit als möglich an den grafischen Merkmalen von Handzeichnungen zu orientieren hatten. Es galt, den Studierenden im Beispiel der Programmiersprache Processing, das Konzept «Programmieren statt Zeichnen» zu vermitteln, wie auch den Gestaltungsspielraum von tastaturbasierten Werkzeugen und das ästhetische Potential computergenerierter Zeichnungen aufzuzeigen.
